In the Book of Jeremiah (31:33-34, Van Dyck Version), the Prophet Jeremiah says:
“33....saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. “34. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

These verses discuss the fact that Allāh will place His law within the hearts of a specific nation, which only applies to the nation of Muḥammad because there is no law preserved in hearts except the law of the Qur’ān. That is because the Qur’ān is preserved in hearts; millions of people memorize it, generation after generation, since it was revealed and until today. The nation addressed in this discourse will be comprised of individuals who know their Lord, from their youngest to their oldest. They will not need anyone to teach them who their Lord is, but rather knowledge of their Lord will be part of their inner consciousness, not due to external laws imposed upon them. They will not need one to teach another saying, “Know the Lord” because the knowledge will be intrinsic and universal due to the clarity of the Qur’ān, and also due to the clarity of the details mentioned in the message of this noble prophet.
Moreover, when they memorize it in their hearts, their knowledge of the Lord grows stronger, because they will repeat what they memorize from the Qur’ān morning and evening and in prayers. The Qur’ān contains beliefs, laws, and etiquettes. His saying: “and I will be their God” means their only object of worship, and this applies only to the nation of Islam, because they alone worship Allāh alone, while other nations worship others besides Him.
His saying: “and they shall be My people” is a commendation of their honor, attributing them to Him, because they fulfilled what Allāh deserves — exclusively worshiping Him and following His law, which abrogates all previous laws.
At the conclusion of the glad tiding, Allāh promises to comprehensively forgive the sins and iniquities of this nation if they hold fast to this Book (the Qur’ān). Forgiveness is the reward for this new relationship between Him and His people. Allāh, Exalted be He, has indicated this in His Book, the Qur’ān, saying: “But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance.” [Ṭā Hā (Ta-Ha), 20:82], and this meaning is also mentioned in many other verses.
