Isaiah 49:8-9

In the Book of Isaiah (49:8-9, Van Dyck Version), the Prophet Isaiah says:

“This is what the Lord says: ‘In a favorable time I answered You, And in a day of salvation I helped You; And I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, To restore the land, to make them inherit the desolate inheritances; Saying to those who are bound, ‘Go free’ To those who are in darkness, ‘Show yourselves’.”

The Book & ReadingMecca

This is a divine promise that Allāh will help His prophet in his mission so that it spreads throughout the earth, and this has happened. He preserves the earth for His prophet, so that he can establish his nation and that nation can inherit the earth. His saying: “to the people” means to all people; so his message is not specific to a particular nation.

It also indicates that this prophet will pardon the captives and forgive them. This indeed happened when he said to the people of Mecca upon its conquest, when they asked him, “What do you think I am going to do with you?” They answered, “A generous brother, and the son of a generous brother.” He said to them, “Go, for you are the freed ones.”
